6th grade Keyboarding
Course Description
Keyboarding is a course taken by 6th grade students. Students learn the proper keying position for all keys. A program called Typing Time will be used for an introduction and to reinforce understanding of all keys. Students will learn the keys using the Herzog system of keying. Many websites and activities will accompany the book for practice. Students will be introduced to simple documents and presentations including reports or essays by using Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. Internet safety and cyber-bullying will be addressed as well.
Class Expectations
Students are expected to participate in discussions, keyboarding practice drills, and everyday activities. They should see an increase in keying speed and accuracy by the end of the 9 weeks. A pass/fail grade is given for the course.

7th grade Computers
Course Description
Seventh grade Computers is an exploratory class that will last for 12 weeks. The course concentrates on reinforcing keying skills by creating documents such as letters, memos, reports, tables, flyers, etc. The class utilizes Microsoft Office to prepare professional looking word processing and presentation documents. Students will also gain certification in digital literacy and responsibility by completing an online interactive simulation sponsored by Everfi.
Class Expectations
Students are expected to come to class prepared to work and participate everyday. They need to turn in all assignments in class. A pass/fail grade is given to students in this class.

Course Description
Eighth grade Computers is an exploratory class that will last for a total of 18 weeks. The course concentrates on keyboarding review by reinforcing document skills. It utilizes Microsoft Office to prepare professional looking word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents. Students will be using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. They will create 2-dimensional games by using a program called Game Maker. Students will also concentrate on career exploration and work place readiness skills.

Students are expected to come to class prepared to work and participate everyday. They need to turn in all assignments in class. A letter grade is given to students in this class.

Weekly Assignments
Due to the hands-on nature of all computer/business courses, there will not be an extreme amount of homework. Hands-on participation will be the biggest portion of the grade. However, students can always practice the correct keying position by using their keyboards at home. If and when homework is assigned, it will be posted below.
